LACMA publishes books to share research and ideas about artists and artworks, exhibitions, conservation, and related topics. Museum curators and staff produce richly illustrated catalogues that reflect LACMA’s expansive exhibition program and its collection, which spans the ancient world to the present. Whether commemorating an artist’s retrospective, exploring a topical exhibition, or marking the occasion of an important acquisition, LACMA’s publications are the permanent record of our work and history, made for all of the members of LACMA’s worldwide community: specialists, art lovers and learners, students, and families.

A selection of past LACMA publications available in print and online formats is displayed below. Those with links to the LACMA Store are available for purchase, while those available on archive.org in PDF format are free to download or print. As of 2024, we will publish PDF supplements to LACMA-produced exhibition catalogues that will document the installation; interpretation; critical and audience reception; and curatorial or artist responses to the exhibition. When a supplement is available—usually three months after an exhibition opening—a link will appear on the publication page.
