LACMA Elects Kelvin Davis to Board of Trustees
(Los Angeles, May 25, 2012)—The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has announced the election of Kelvin Davis to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Davis is a senior partner of TPG Capital, a leading private investment firm, and head of the firm’s North American Buyouts Group.
Mr. Davis is a passionate art collector and is also on the Board of Overseers at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, among other philanthropic interests. At LACMA, he has supported the annual Collectors Committee for the last two years. At the 2011 event he acquired outright a prototype desk by Donald Judd, as a gift to the museum. At this year’s gala, held on April 21, Mr. Davis contributed additional funds along with several LACMA trustees toward the acquisition of two paintings by eighteenth-century New Spanish painter Nicolás Enríquez.
“I am excited to welcome Kelvin Davis to LACMA’s Board of Trustees,” said Michael Govan, LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director. “Kelvin’s enthusiasm for our collection and our role in the community makes him a perfect fit.”
Co-Chair of LACMA’s Board of Trustees Andy Gordon added, “It has been a thrill for Co-Chair Terry Semel and me to see LACMA’s board grow over the last few years. We welcome the addition of Kelvin Davis to our roster of more than fifty active trustees who are helping to shape the museum for the twenty-first century.”
