Scholar and author Tofigh Heidarzadeh will discuss the role Middle Eastern astronomy has played in the development of humanity’s understanding of the cosmos at a walkthrough of Mapping the Infinite: Cosmologies Across Cultures.
With a background in physics and astronomy, Tofigh Heidarzadeh earned his PhD in the history of science. Over the past 15 years, he has taught the history of science and technology at the University of California, Riverside, and physics and astronomy at Riverside Community College. In addition to several articles on the history of science, he is the author of The Physical Theories of Comets: From Aristotle to Whipple (Springer, 2008).
