LACMA members are invited to join FILM at LACMA for a special in-person 70 mm screening of Dune: Part Two, followed by a conversation with director, writer, and producer Denis Villeneuve; producer Tanya Lapointe; re-recording mixer Ron Bartlett; and visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert.
Dune: Part Two, based on the second half of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed novel, completes the cautionary tale of Paul Atreides’ swift and dangerous rise to power. Vengeance, prophecy, fervent followers and political manipulation ultimately lead Paul to abandon the formidable pull of love and his conscience to accept a fate he knows will destroy so much. Now nominated for Best Picture, in this epic conclusion, internationally acclaimed writer-director Denis Villeneuve dives deep into the psychological lure of power while expanding the story’s scope and scale. Villeneuve’s take on what many consider an unadaptable classic delivers a bold and artistic cinematic vision that pushes the boundaries of immersive storytelling.
Dune: Part Two is nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects, and Best Sound.
This in-person screening will take place at an off-site theater. Location details will be shared in the email invitation. Capacity is limited and reservations are required.
