To accommodate the high demand for school tours, we award guided tour placement through a lottery system. Beginning Monday, November 18th at 9 am, LACMA will be accepting school tour reservations for tours taking place from February 18, 2025 to May 30, 2025. To enter the lottery, teachers need to complete this form by 9 am, Friday December 6. Teachers will be notified if they are selected by 5 pm on Tuesday, January 7.
Reservations for visits taking place after February 14, 2025 will open in November 2024. During the tour, trained art docents guide students in active looking and discussion, focusing on a selection of five to seven works currently on view. The tours include grade-appropriate activities and questions that encourage close-looking, conversation, and personal connections. A limited number of funded buses are available, and buses can be requested through the lottery form.
Please note that after-school, camp, or scout groups are not eligible for guided tours at this time.
Bring your K–12 students, after school, camp, or scout groups for a self-guided tour of LACMA’s collection! A limited number of groups can be accommodated each day. LACMA requires at least one adult for every 10 students. Chaperones must remain with their group of 10 students at all times. Email schooltours@lacma.org at least two weeks in advance to reserve.
Beginning in October 2022, professors can arrange a docent-led tour of LACMA's collection for their class. Guided tours can take place after 12 pm on weekdays and after 10 am on weekends; tour groups are capped at 20 students, and will include the exploration of one exhibition of the professor's choosing, led by a trained LACMA docent.
Reservations for docent-led tours must be arranged at least three weeks in advance, and are subject to docent availability. Email schooltours@lacma.org to make tour arrangements. College students working toward a degree receive complimentary admission for a docent-led tour when accompanied by their instructor.
Bring your university group for a self-guided tour of LACMA’s collection!
College students working toward a degree receive complimentary admission for a self-guided visit when accompanied by their instructor or visiting with a recognized college club or organization. A limited number of groups can be accommodated each day.
Email schooltours@lacma.org at least two weeks in advance to reserve. If reservations are not made in advance, students and professors will be charged the appropriate general admission fee.
