Textile mountings for scroll paintings are both a decorative framework and structural support that is essential for the appreciation, display, and preservation of East Asian paintings. Andrew Hare, retired Supervisory Conservator of East Asian Painting, National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution will discuss the evolution of diverse mounting styles focusing on Japanese examples from the past 1,000 years.
