Outlawed! Queer Cinema Before the Culture Wars

In conjunction with the closing weekend of LACMA’s exhibition Robert Mapplethorpe: XYZ, this series includes films that not only share Mapplethorpe’s provocative embrace of homosexual themes, but also were subjected to the same suppression and censure as Mapplethorpe’s art. A special presentation of the landmark projection that was shown on the exterior wall of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in June 1989 will be displayed at 6:30 pm.
