Current Teaching Staff

Hisako Asano received her BFA and MFA from the University of Southern California. Hisako has thirty-two years' teaching experience in Japanese painting and impressionistic oriental watercolor at USC and other schools throughout Southern California.

Elonda Billera received her MFA in drawing and installation from Claremont Graduate University and her BFA in ceramics from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She lives, works, and exhibits in Los Angeles.

Heather C. Conyers earned her BA from Hunter College in NYC with an emphasis in printmaking. She teaches art classes to youth and adults across Southern California.

Paola M. Davila is a freelance photographer and educator who has been teaching visual art throughout Southern California for 10 years. She has her B.A. in anthropology and is pursuing her Masters in education and photography.

Thom Dower studied art at the University of Iowa and Otis Parsons. After working as a commercial graphic designer and illustrator, he currently teaches at the Exceptional Children's Foundation and with the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department.

June Edmonds received her MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. June is an exhibiting and teaching artist who also has had a number of public art commissions. She also teaches with PS Arts and Cerritos College.

George Evans is a Los Angeles-born artist. He received his BFA in fine arts from Cal Arts. He teaches at Los Angeles Trade–Technical College and exhibits nationally.

Anna Marie DeVito Francesco received her MFA from Claremont Graduate University and her BFA in fine arts from the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. She also teaches at the Huntington Beach Art Center and the School of Arts and Enterprise in Pomona, California and serves in numerous community art projects.

Sean Gall, originally from San Jose, California, received his MFA in studio art from Cal Arts. He is currently working on a series of highly detailed drawings. He also teaches woodworking to children on the woodworking bus for Side Street Projects.

Maite Gomez-Rejón received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has coordinated programs and taught in the education departments of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and the Getty Villa.

Peggy Hasegawa is a paper-lover specializing in handmade book arts. An arts educator for more than twenty years, she teaches classes and festival workshops at LACMA and other museums and institutions around the southland.

Kady Hoffman received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, as well as a Certificate of Completion from the Royal College of Art in London, England. Currently, Kady teaches at the Growing Place-Marine Park in Santa Monica. Her work was last shown in a group show at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Brescia, Italy. Kady's paintings are also in collections in the U.S, Mexico, and Europe.

May Jong is a Los Angeles-based artist with an MFA in painting from Claremont Graduate University. She exhibits her work nationally and teaches in museums and schools in Southern California. She is co-founder and co-director of an artist-run space in Los Angeles.

Rosanne Kleinerman is a painter, jewelry designer, and art educator whose work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York, and some places in between. She holds a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and teaches art to children and adults at LACMA, UCLA, and at various schools in Los Angeles County.

Angel Kwan has been exhibiting her artwork since 1993. She received her teaching credential and MFA in drawing and painting from California State University, Long Beach. She is currently working with the Public Corporation for the Arts to provide art lessons to educators and school children in Long Beach.

Lauren Lavitt, born and raised in Los Angeles, received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design and her MFA from UCLA. Currently, she teaches fine art and graphic design and exhibits her work internationally. She works in a variety of media; painting, video, photography, and installation.

Earnest Merritt is a Los Angeles-based artist who received his MFA from Cal Arts in 2005. He has shown his work in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Tel Aviv, and Cuba. He is an art educator specializing in drawing and sculpture and has been teaching in the Los Angeles area for the last four years.

Rafael Navarro is an Emmy award-winning animator working in the field for over fifteen years. Classically trained as an illustrator of many mediums, he is also the creator and artist of the cult acclaimed comic book adventure series Sonambulo.

Josh Peters received his BFA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his MFA from the Mason Gross School of Art at Rutgers University. A recent transplant from NYC, Josh exhibits his work nationally and internationally.

Lisa Oxley exhibits her paintings and drawings in Los Angeles and Barcelona. She received her BA from the University of the State of New York and has taught and lectured at the Escola d'Arts i Oficis in Barcelona, and in Los Angeles at Pierce College, Brentwood Art Center, and the Norton Simon Museum.

Cindy Santos Bravo received her MFA in the Program of Art from the California Institute of the Arts. She has been invited to show her installations and performances internationally. Over the past 5 years she has worked with young adults in the CalArts Community Arts Partnership program with projects that utilize printmaking, video, and sound media.

David Schoffman, originally from Brooklyn, received his BFA in painting at the Rhode Island School of Design. He exhibits and lectures nationally and internationally and teaches locally at the Brentwood Art Center and Cal Arts.

Lisa Diane Wedgeworth, a visual artist and jewelry designer, has studied art in Mexico and received her BA in studio art from California State University, Los Angeles. She currently teaches art to developmentally disabled teens and adults in Los Angeles.

Michael Wright is a painter who works in traditional and electronic media. He exhibits on an international level and is currently associate professor in the digital media and liberal studies programs at Otis College of Art and Design.
