Children's art classes emphasize creative problem-solving and experimentation with a variety of media. In addition to art-making, classes include gallery activities and the viewing of original works of art from the museum's permanent collection or special exhibitions.
Children Ages 3 1/2 to 5 and Their Family Members
These sessions offer very young children and their parents a variety of experiences, including storytelling, observation activities, and art-making workshops.

Meet the Shapes
Five Saturdays: January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13
11 am—12 pm or 12:30—1:30 pm
In the museum's galleries, young artists will identify and discuss how artists use lines, circles, squares, and rectangles. Back in the studio, they will incorporate new and familiar shapes in their drawings, paintings, and collages with artist Kady Hoffman.

Art and the Five Senses

Learn about some of the oldest cultures in the world! Explore art from different parts of the world—masks, animals, musical instruments, and an ancient Egyptian coffin. In the studio, work with artist Patricia Yosen and create a variety of works with various materials.

Participants study art objects in the galleries while working in a variety of expressive media. The classes emphasize creative problem-solving, observation skills, and art-making techniques.
The Young Comic Book Artist Series Sold Out
Five Sundays, November 1, 8, 15, 22, December 6 | 11 am—1 pm
Grab an inking pen and cartooning board as you become the creator of your own comic world! Work with artist and cartoonist Thom Dower to make real camera-ready comics, drawn in your own style and written in your words. Based on the exhibition Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India's Comics. See original artists' drawings from the distant past to the recent comic book series Ramayan.

Join artist Rafael Navarro in the exhibition Heroes and Villains: The Battle for Good in India's Comics to discover the secrets of how comics are created. Learn to animate characters, lay out a dynamic page, and find your inner storyteller!

Intergenerational Classes for Students Ages 5 to 105
Perfect for families or adults on their own, intergenerational classes present to students of nearly all ages the opportunity to learn about art and make art at the museum together.
Discover Art Fundamentals

Design prints, make edible art, and create molds for sculptures in this playful gallery and studio family art class while learning to use line, shape, color, and texture. With artist Elonda Billera.
