Gallery Course: Pompeii and the Roman Villa
Saturday, July 25 | 9 am
During the first century BC the region around the Bay of Naples became an artistic center of exceptional sophistication. Artists flocked to the area, creating works of art for patrons in Pompeii and neighboring towns. This artistic flowering was fostered by Roman aristocrats, who built sumptuous villas in the area. This behind-the-scenes gallery course offers an introductory lecture and private gallery tour, affording a close look at the sculptures, paintings, frescoes, and luxury arts from the opulent houses of the urban elite in Pompeii.
Members $35; nonmembers $45
Refreshments and parking fees included in tuition; limited enrollment.
