Join us for a captivating panel discussion featuring Tava Tedesco, Kiyomi Fukui, Amanda Burr, and Carmen Argote, who will explore the intersection of contemporary printmaking and eco-conscious practices.
About the Participants
Carmen Argote is a multidisciplinary artist who often points to the body, class, and economic structures in relation to architecture and personal history. Argote’s practice draws upon their immediate environment and the networks of labor and consumption that mark these spaces. She manifests these connections through drawings, paintings, site-specific sculpture, installation, and performance that directly reference the visual language of abstraction.
Amanda Burr is a paper conservator at LACMA. She holds a Master of Arts and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation from the SUNY Buffalo State Art Conservation program. Prior to joining LACMA, she worked as book and paper conservator at The Huntington Library and held internships at the UCLA Libraries and the Leiden University Library in the Netherlands.
Kiyomi Fukui Nannery’s works revolve around the idea of emotional connections in human experience—loss, grief, yearning for belonging. She works with printmaking, drawing, natural dye, and at times social interactions. Her works are process-oriented, considering both the physical and immaterial—the resulting images and objects explore emotional resonances within their arrangements.
Tava Tedesco is an artist, printmaker, and educator living and working in Long Beach, California. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and her Master of Fine Arts from California State University, Long Beach. Image collection, research, and analysis are key elements in her work, which often focuses on landscape, color, photography, and digital media. Tedesco is an assistant professor in the printmaking program at CSULB.
