HR Coordinator
Human Resources (RFT)

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the HR Coordinator is primarily responsible for the Museum's benefits administration and the overall coordination and maintenance of HR records. In addition, this position will provide administrative support to the Human Resources department.

Some duties include: conduct benefits orientations for employees and act as primary contact for all benefits-related issues and questions; maintain HR database and files; plan & organize Museum's rideshare program; administer leave of absence in accordance with Museum policy; coordinate blood drives & employee appreciation events; process worker's compensation paperwork; track department's budget through the Museum's financial reporting system; draft various letters; order office supplies; sort departmental mail.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field and at least 1 year of administrative experience in an office environment. The successful candidate will have excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.

Multimedia Producer
Web & Digital Media (RPT)

Reporting to the Director of Media Strategies, the Multimedia Producer will support interactive and educational projects on a part-time basis. This position will support the lacma.org website and other digital media projects by producing web videos, interactive features and mobile content.

Some duties include: shooting, editing and producing web videos; supporting the development of web and mobile-based interactives; developing graphic and media content for lacma.org; assist in recording audio and video content; produce audio and video content for mobile, download and streaming; produce and manage museum podcasts; archive digital media projects.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and two to five years of internet and new media. Required skills include: proficiency with Final Cut Pro, Wordpress, Photoshop, Flash, Podcast Producer or Garage Band; familiarity with web video standards and specifications and XML distribution methods; comfort with various content authoring systems. The ideal candidate will have a track record of innovation with common consumer technologies and social media communication platforms. An interest in and knowledge of art and museums is strongly preferred.

Sales Associate 
Museum Stores (TFT)

Reporting to the Sales Associate Supervisor, the Sales Associate is primarily responsible for assisting customers with purchases of museum merchandise.

Some duties include: greet customers and determine type of merchandise desired; operate register and receive payment; wrap merchandise; place new merchandise on display; answer and direct telephone calls; maintain a strong understanding of product knowledge for all merchandise; process special orders; take inventory of stock and maintain stock levels on sales floor; price, arrange, and maintain displays; examine defective articles returned by customers to determine refunds/replacements.

The qualified candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one year of retail/sales experience, including the handling of cash/processing payments. Availability to work shifts scheduled Thursdays through Sundays is required.

Welcome Center Associate
Welcome Center (RFT)

Reporting to the Welcome Center Supervisor, the Welcome Center Associate provides quality customer service and sells Museum admission, special event/program tickets, and museum memberships.

Some duties include: operates computerized ticket reservation system, cash register, credit card authorization system and other box office equipment; interacts with the public in a courteous and pleasant manner both in person and via telephone; balances worksheets, breakdowns and register tapes; writes letters, responds to inquiries, and completes documentation for fulfillment of ticket and member benefits packages.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and one to three months of related experience in a customer service role. Qualified candidates will have a demonstrated working knowledge of computers and word processing software, as well as computerized register equipment.

Sponsorship Manager
Development (RFT)

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, the Sponsorship Manager is directly responsible for securing project, general operating, capital and endowment support from corporations and works to ensure effective cultivation and stewardship of corporate sponsors. The Sponsorship Manager's responsibilities are wide-ranging, encompassing everything from the earliest stages of potential sponsor identification through fulfillment and documentation of programmatic sponsorships.

Some duties include: identify corporate funding opportunities across the museum, with frequent collaboration with various departments; develop sponsorship solicitation strategies; identify potential new sponsors; draft sponsorship proposals and inquiry letters; negotiate sponsorship contracts; coordinate all aspects of sponsorship fulfillment from initiation to completion, including the delivery of marketing, public relations, entertainment and hospitality benefits; analyze financial progress and prepare annual revenue and expense budgets.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least three to five years of related experience. Excellent writing ability, highly developed organizational skills, attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment are required. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and databases. Previous experience in a not-for-profit development setting is strongly preferred.

Web Developer
Web & Digital Media (RFT)

Reporting to the Director of Media Strategies, the Web Developer will work with other digital media staff and contractors, including multimedia producers and web and systems developers, to develop high quality design and development supporting the communication and engagement priorities of the Museum.

Some duties include: maintain front and back-end development for lacma.org, which is an html site administered primarily through FatWire Content Server; develop and communicate technical specifications for web-based projects for work-flow management; create and publish web pages using existing CMS, HTML, XML, PHP and Photoshop; vet and integrate code of external developers; integrate new templates in line with existing code frameworks and guidelines.

The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and two to five years of experience creating and maintaining innovative, content-rich websites and features. Required skills include: PHP,HTML, CSS, RSS, XML. Flash, C++ are desired. The ideal candidate will have open-source expertise, experience developing and configuring content management systems and working knowledge of Flash, Actionscript and mobile platforms.

Director of Development Research
Development (RFT)

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development Operations & Gift Planning, the Director of Development Research plans, organizes, directs, and conducts research in support of the solicitation of gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporate funding sources. Additionally, the position has full supervisory responsibility for the Development Research Analyst.

Some duties include: retrieves, analyzes, and synthesizes biographical and financial information on current and potential major donors and prepares comprehensive profiles of research findings; proactively identifies new potential contributors for the capital campaign, programmatic support, special projects and the Museum's ongoing operations through data mining, information gathering and analysis, and knowledge of the philanthropic community; oversees prospect management and tracking including the training of new development staff members; works with the database systems specialist to asses tracking reporting needs; manages online services, reference resources and the Museum's donor and prospect files.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university and three to five years of donor/prospect research experience in a non-profit organization. Previous campaign experience is strongly preferred, as well as a good working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, donor database management software, and online and published research resources. The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines.

Landscape Designer
Operations & Facility Planning (RFT)

Reporting to both the Director of Operations and the Director of Art Installations & Facility Planning, the Landscape Designer is responsible for documenting, recording and monitoring the existing gardens and landscape of the Museum's campus. Working with landscape architects, designers, consultants, contractors and staff, the Landscape Designer will develop the Phase 3 Landscape Plan and a master plan for the museum campus.

Some duties include: manage existing landscape maintenance contracts, including hands on supervision of gardeners, developing and monitoring schedules for irrigation, pruning, fertilizing, pest and disease control, replacement of material and ongoing improvements; research and develop a comprehensive water management strategy; provide design and technical guidance as a liaison to governmental agencies with respect to current and future sustainability initiatives and resolutions; assemble and update the base plan for the Museum's existing gardens and landscape plantings with major tree and plant identification using existing plans and historical records.

The qualified candidate will have post-graduate training or an advanced degree in Landscape Architecture. Proficiency in CAD programs and similar architectural drawing programs is essential. An environmental design background, field experience and project management, as well as conversational Spanish are strongly preferred.

Director of Major Donor Events
Development (RFT)

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development, the Director of Major Donor Events creates, designs and manages major donor events, including cultivation and stewardship events, fundraising events, as well as events to celebrate Transformation Campaign donors, which will very often involve the Director, the President and the Board of Trustees.

Some duties include: manage every aspect of the events including creation and organization of invitation lists, invitation design, location and layout, timelines, event production and design, menu planning, staff scheduling and breakdown; act as liaison between the Development department, Special Events, outside vendors and all other areas of the museum necessary to execute the events; consult with senior Development staff on strategy for scheduling events; full supervisory responsibility for the Major Donor Event Planner, who assists in planning and executing all of the events.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university and five to seven years of major donor experience with annual fundraising. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet established deadlines. Good research skills and proficiency with MS Office are required.

Council Activities Manager
Development (RFT)

Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Council Activities Manager evaluates and oversees the activities of the ten LACMA volunteer art councils, in addition to developing and implementing fundraising initiatives for individual volunteer art councils. The Council Activities Manager also cultivates and stewards the council membership through the development of art-related programs, events, fundraisers, lectures, travel and meetings.

Some duties include: evaluate current operating model of the ten councils, recommend changes to improve or modify the model, assess the effectiveness of the revised model; supervise and monitor the work of six Council Assistants who provide administrative support to the art councils; maintain an ongoing relationship with leaders of the ten councils by attending meetings and events, and act as a key liaison with the Development Department, curators and the councils; serve as facilitator for a monthly meeting of the Council Activities Committee; develop educational and instructional workshops for Council Chairs and Assistants; cultivate a portfolio of major donors and prospects for solicitation and stewardship to support the museum's annual and capital campaigns.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university and at least five years of demonstrated successful fundraising and/or management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience in volunteer management. Museum experience and familiarity with the Los Angeles-based art community is preferred. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Assistant/Associate Curator, Korean Art 
Chinese and Korean Art (RFT)

The Chinese and Korean Art Department seeks a highly qualified professional with museum experience to serve as an Assistant or Associate Curator of Korean Art.  This position offers an opportunity to work with a collection of Korean art in one of the most active departments in the field. The candidate must be a team player, able to work closely with the curator of the department and other sections within the institution, especially Education, Docents, Conservation, Registrars, Development, and other curatorial departments.

Some duties include: function as the lead institutional specialist for the Korean art collection; independently research, interpret (writing/composing labels, didactics, gallery guides, electronic media and museum website), catalogue, and publish the permanent collection; participate in acquisitions and exhibitions/installations; provide educational lectures, information, and docent training; instruct and supervise departmental interns and volunteers; perform public and scholarly art expertise, both written and oral; assist in fundraising and grant-writing for acquisitions, exhibitions, and a Capital Campaign; cultivate and maintain donor/trustee/community relations and professional affiliations; and collaborate with the East Asian Art Council, the department's support group. 

The qualified candidate will have a master's degree or ABD in East Asian art history, although a Ph.D. is strongly preferred, accompanied by a minimum three years of museum experience working with Korean art. Prior museum and/or related experience will determine the level of the position. Other requirements include proficiency in Korean and ideally one other East Asian language; advanced English-language communication and interpersonal skills; aptitude for connoisseurship; critical scholarly record and ambition; and the demonstrated capability to write for a general as well as a scholarly audience. Grant Writer
Development (RFT)

Reporting to the Government and Foundation Grants Manager, the Grant Writer researches, develops, submits and coordinates grant proposals and reports for the museum. This position is responsible for writing proposals and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant-funded projects. The Grant Writer will also provide staffing assistance for donor-related events, therefore some evening and weekend work is required.

Some duties include: performing prospect research; preparing and submitting proposals to foundations and government granting agencies; working with finance and project managers to gather information necessary to prepare written reports to donors; maintaining current records in database and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting and monitoring federal funding opportunities.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university and two or more years of previous experience with nonprofit fundraising and proposal writing, as well as knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong written communication skills, ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals, strong editing skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Gift Planning Officer
Development (RFT)

The Development department seeks a Gift Planning Officer to coordinate major gift and estate planning programs to promote deferred giving to the museum by donors and prospects. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Development Operations and Gift Planning, the Gift Planning Officer will establish, create, implement, develop, and evaluate plans for solicitation strategies, and will play an integral role in working with prospective donors for Transformation: The LACMA Campaign.

Some duties include: develop and maintain personal contact with a portfolio of prospects and donors; respond to planned giving inquiries; solicit donors for planned and current gifts to benefit the museum's capital and endowment campaign; write, design and produce marketing materials; prepare planned giving illustrations and proposals as well as develop strategies for donor cultivation; assist and advise other development staff with planned giving techniques, including strategies for gifts of art and gifts of real estate.

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three to five years of development experience. A strong working knowledge of planned giving techniques and financial planning and familiarity with planned giving software are required. The successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work with donors at all levels, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
