Dir. by Sidney Lumet; w/ Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Richard Pryor, Lena Horne

In an adaptation of the smash Broadway musical, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, legendary singer Diana Ross plays Dorothy, an unfulfilled, 24-year-old kindergarten teacher from Harlem, New York. Her life changes drastically when a random snowstorm sweeps her and her dog, Toto, away into the land of Oz. The familiar story line is lavished with spectacle: New York City is transformed into a magical theater set, with the former World Trade Center as a stand-in for the Emerald City. Ross, joined by Lena Horne, soars through the numbers and songs in a score by Quincy Jones, making this a memorable and timeless film for all ages.
