An Academy Salute to Stanley Kubrick

Wednesday, November 7, 2012 | 7:30 pm

Hosted by Malcolm McDowell

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences joins LACMA in celebrating the life and career of Stanley Kubrick with a dynamic evening of film clips and personal remembrances by his friends and collaborators.

The thirteen-time Academy Award-nominated director, writer, and producer (who also won an Oscar for special visual effects for 2001: A Space Odyssey) was one of the world’s most visually innovative, thematically operatic, and intellectually challenging filmmakers. Notable individuals from the U.K. and U.S. film communities will come together to honor Kubrick over the course of this stellar evening.

This salute launches both LACMA’s Kubrick film retrospective 2012: A Kubrick Odyssey and the Academy’s satellite exhibition Stanley Kubrick: The Ultimate Trip, on view through March 3, 2013, in the Academy's Grand Lobby Gallery. Viewing hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 5 pm, and weekends noon to 6 pm.

Please note: This event will take place at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard.
